"Mole check"

About: Mount Stuart Hospital

My husband passed away due to cancer and consequently cancer is a real worry for me so I decided as part of my recovery I would get my skin checked out for any potential problems. Why I didn't go to my GP is a question I am now asking myself. They most certainly would have taken my worries seriously. However, I decided to pay £100 thinking I would get time to chat with the consultant about things to look out for and for an explanation of all the different and many moles

I have over my body. I felt going to an expert was the right thing to do in order to alleviate my worries. Not so I'm afraid. Yes I had my skin checked but in the most hurried manner imaginable and with no chance whatsoever to explain my worries or to ask any questions. I was given a clear and ok but in a most hurried manner.

The doctor was obviously in a desperate hurry to leave and I felt uncomfortable taking up any more of their time. What an unpleasant experience it was for me. It's the quickest I've ever spent £100 and feel quite stupid that I thought I would be given someone's undivided attention and time. Instead I had just a matter of minutes. The hospital itself is lovely and other treatments I've undertaken have been excellent. However, if you want to waste £100 I would advise you to go to a casino, you'll loose the money just as fast! Regarding moles though, I have no doubt your GP will give you a very much better service. Yes I'm very disappointed .

Whilst pleased to note that you received a positive outcome during your consultation here, I was very sorry to read of the reason for your visit and that you felt hurried.

Mount Stuart Hospital is committed to ensuring high standards of care for all our patients, so I am always disappointed to read of any feedback indicating we have not met expectations.

I know that the Consultant concerned would wish me to pass on apologies for your experience and I would like to assure you that all the Consultants who practice have very good reputations and proven clinical outcomes.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss matters further should you so wish.

Please do not hesitate to contact me on 01803 321655 if you would like to take up the offer of a meeting.

Kind regards

Jeanette Mercer
