"physio referral"

About: C/O Care UK, Bucks Msk, High Wycombe

Referred to msk for scan for knee problem. Waited several weeks for appt to then be told I had to see physio first. My gp was great but physio was uninterested and lacking in some musculoskeletal knowledge. Not a helpful appt at all. I understand need to reduce pressure on nhs services but msk provided very poor alternative. Bucks nhs could fund better services. Btw i wonder why msk has not replied to any of the feedback people have left.

Thank you for your feedback; I am sorry that you found your appointment unhelpful.

I can confirm that GP’s refer to the service for an assessment and not a direct scan.

Following a full assessment, our clinicians are responsible for deciding the most appropriate course of treatment, which may include ordering a scan or x-ray, in line with National Guidelines.

The majority of patients with painful knees, will be seen and treated by a physiotherapist, as they rarely require surgery.

I am very sorry that you found the clinician to be lacking in musculoskeletal (MSK) knowledge and uninterested.

I can assure you that our clinical team are all specialist MSK physiotherapists, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

However, to improve the quality of the service, it would be very much appreciated it if you could contact the service directly and ask to speak to the Clinical Lead, in order that I can investigate your concerns in detail.

I would like to apologise again on behalf of the service for your experience.
