"Xray Dept' institutionalized approach"

About: Kidderminster Hospital

Following a GP referral I attended Kidderminster hospital Imaging department, I have attended before and have always been happy with the treatment I have received.

Today was slightly different and had the distinct feeling that the other four patient and myself were taking part in a "group activity" rather than being treated as individuals. We were herded into the waiting area by the senior radiographer who was holding a pile of gowns, they then asked each of us if we were wearing any metal and whilst doing so gesticulated to parts of our body, which meant that we each knew basically what was wrong with one another. One patient had to help the other with the ties on her gown because the radiographer just walked off. Although the member of staff was polite and the whole process was quick it was a very institutionalized approach and failed to take into consideration the individual needs of the patients.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I am sorry to hear you experienced this, no patient should be made to feel that way. I will make sure your comments are passed onto the management. Please contact our Patient Services Department on 0300 123 1732 or email wah-tr.PET@nhs.net if you would like us to investigate your concerns or arrange for you to speak to a member of staff about this.

Kind Regards
