"Great experience"

About: Trafford General Hospital / Dermatology

I can't praise the staff enough in the photo-therapy department of the dermatology unit. This was my first visit to the department which had recently been relocated to Trafford General Hospital from MRI. Having had skin problems for many many years the information and advice given went above and beyond. I have already had great improvement to my skin after 2 days and work colleagues have actually commented how good my skin was looking. It's a shame that there isn't a nurse based in each GP practice giving advice on skin conditions, different creams and also how to apply them correctly. It would certainly cut down on how many people are being referred to the unit. The relocation of this unit has meant that they are stuck down a small corridor with minimal treatment rooms but the staff continue to be caring and do a fantastic job. The NHS needs to put a bit more money into dermatology to give them the facilities they deserve. Well done on a great experience.

Thank you for your comments posted on the NHS Choices website regarding the care you received from the photo-therapy department at Trafford Hospital. It was very kind of you to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to hear that you thought the dermatology team at Trafford were caring and that they have had a positive impact on your health and wellbeing. I can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to the Lead Nurse to share with the staff involved.

The Operational Manager for Trafford Hospital appreciates your comments in regards to how GP practices could be further supported by specialist nurses for dermatology and advises that as the Clinical Commissioning Group is responsible for GP practice's it would be for them to decide if this support could be funded. In regards to the dermatology services operating out of Trafford Hospital, the management team have ensured that there are adequate facilities available to provide appropriate nurse led dermatology services for the patients who previously attended Manchester Royal Infirmary.
