"Long long wait for a bladder biopsy,"

About: Kettering General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

In April 2016 I had a routine endoscopy as a previous bladder cancer patient and an area was found that required investigation. Since then, despite numerous unanswered phone messages to various staff and two emails I know only that I am on the waiting list. I was advised it may be August 2016 then October 2016 but no firm date has yet been provided. Consequently I, my wife and family are extremely worried that the cancer has returned and is growing unchecked. I have even involved my Medical Centre in helping to get information on a date but they are meeting the same brick walls as I am. I am sure I am by no means the only person finding it impossible to get information out of the Urology Department. Why is this?

Please accept my sincere apologies for your poor experience at Kettering General Hospital.

As an organisation we aim to provide the highest quality of care and service to our patients and it is disappointing to read of the difficulties you have experienced in making contact, particularly as there are procedures in place to ensure phone calls/messages are responded to.

I would welcome an opportunity to discuss your experience and to understand further the points and concerns you have raised. If you wish to, please make contact with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via telephone on 01536 493305 who will be able to connect your call to me directly.

Kind regards

Mairead Lacken-Hillery

Associate General Manager – Surgery Clinical Business Unit
