"My stay in Branston ward"

I had an op recently, consultant Mr Oteri was lovely. However my stay on the Branston ward was not a pleasant one. Information was not noted down in my file always. I knew I had a water infection coming, I felt so poorly with it, I mentioned it to the night nurse that I keep shivering/shaking and was told it was the anaesthetic wearing off. (My water was tested the day of my operation twice and said it will be sent to get it checked. It wasn't sent) The nurse  who was my nurse the next day came to introduce herself. I told her that I am in pain with this and my urine is rosy. She said nothing is down in my notes and asked me to do another sample, in a white sterile pot this time and she will make sure it gets sent. She also gave me an antibiotic straight away. I was so dehydrated when I came back to the ward after my op and I kept drinking lots of water. I couldn't quench my thirst. I mentioned this to my other nurse and she told me not to worry keep drinking plenty you will go to the toilet eventually, it can take a while as your body is using up all the fluid. So I drank about 6 jugs full of water. The night nurse came on duty and I told her that I couldn't pass urine, she told me to just take sips of water and that I shouldn't be drinking more than 3 jugs - contradicting info. The consultant came to see me after my op and said he would get my blood taken. I had to ask my nurse about the blood test. Oh I will get it done she said. It was the night nurse that took it eventually at 8pm, about 7 hours later. Why was this not done when the consulting requested it? I had to ask. Do the notes not get written up or does no one bothers to read them? I have got to go back for another op and I am waiting to hear. Doesn't give me much confidence in returning, it's worrying enough to go through an operation let alone have to worry if you are going to get looked after post op. The anaesthetics and nurse who fetched me for theatre were lovely as was the recovery nurses. One more thing, it wasn't noted down that I'm allergic to penicillin and the theatre nurse asked me and put a red band on my wrist.

I don't like to complain but I do think you should be aware of this. Why is this happening?

Also my obs were not done regularly and nurses hardly came around to check on me. Don't want to stay on this ward next time. I wish I could have been checked on more and that the staff could have been a  little more caring.
