"Excellent care"

My Mother benefited hugely from the compassionate, caring and genuinely lovely people who looked after her during a three-week stay at Witham Court earlier this year. I cannot praise enough the sheer skill and dedication shown by each and every person she was involved with.

They treated her with dignity, respect, and very quickly learned her individual needs, her likes, problems and concerns. The time and care dedicated to her by ward staff and clinical specialists alike was amazing.

And it all paid off. She is doing so well now, back at home, living independently. To have such a wonderfully positive outcome from what was a very distressing time for all the family is a great testament to a very capable team, and its managers.

I was simply bowled over by their ability to combine total professionalism with such a friendly, caring approach. My Mum, and all the family, felt fully included in all discussions and decisions, with everything explained in full, and repeatedly. The result is an amazingly relaxed atmosphere – ideal for recovery. Thank you so, so much.

We felt the facilities were excellent, with large, comfortable rooms affording a great degree of privacy (a distinct advantage of Witham Court over more modern identi-kit buildings, with tiny rooms and paper-thin walls). The goal of keeping patient rooms unlocked as soon as possible made good sense, helping with re-integration, even if we did feel a little anxious initially, especially given the mixed sex nature of the ward. But there are separate male and female corridors, which reduced the likelihood of any issues, and the staff have such a good understanding of all the patients too, which really does make a massive difference.

The meals were invariably good, home-style, wholesome food – not “hospital nosh”! All areas were constantly being cleaned and a great effort was made to maintain a homely atmosphere conducive to recovery. There were even “ward rabbits” kept in the garden – a real focus of uplift and enjoyment for many patients.

Please thank all the team. I have no hesitation in commending this facility and its staff – your loved one will be in very caring and capable hands here.
