"Fantastic care for my 16 year old daughter"

About: Friarage Hospital Site / General surgery

Thank you to all the staff on the Allerton ward for the care and patience shown to my 16 year old daughter during a recent stay in hospital - she was constantly monitored and her pain managed quickly and effectively.

The food was great and the Staff Nurses professional.

The only problem was with the other patients visitors who were very noisy and inconsiderate - the nurses dealt with this as best they could but I'd rather they were allowed to concentrate on nursing rather than crowd control. It clearly states only 2 visitors per bed - we thought a coach party had come in at one point !

Good morning

Thank you for your kind comments left on the NHS Choices Website expressing gratitude for the care and treatment recently afforded to your daughter on Allerton Ward at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

It is always pleasing to receive a message of thanks and I very much appreciate you taking the time to contact the Trust.

You also raised concerns about noise levels on the ward, and other visitors not adhering to the Visitors Policy.

I am very sorry that this situation marred an otherwise satisfactory inpatient experience, and will pass this on to the relevant staff to make them aware.

I will also ensure that your kind comments are passed to Senior Managers for the relevant area, so the members of staff concerned are made aware of the positive feedback received from you.

It may interest you to know the Trust welcomes nominations for the annual ‘Nightingale Awards’ which, once a year, recognises the important contribution nurses and midwives make to patients and their families on a day-to-day basis.

Forms to nominate nurses and midwives for a Nightingale Award are available from the Director of Nursing’s office on 01642 854344 or by emailing val.fothergill@stees.nhs.uk

For further information or if you wish to nominate staff for this award, please visit online at www.southtees.nhs.uk/about/awards

Thank you again for your kind words and feedback.
