Having been admitted after 9 hours in a & e to ward 2 I waited to be told officially that I had gall stones which had lead to an infection setting in and causing an abnormal white cell count. I was deeply disappointed as no-one could possibly come down and talk to me about it and if I was being operated on. So I carried on being nil by mouth as the night drew in exhausted I managed to get some sleep. The following day I hoped that the ward rounds would be early and all would be resolved but no after badgering the doctors all day a lovely nurse finally midway through the afternoon got a doctor to see me. By now I had rebelled as no-one could tell me why I was nil by mouth I had a sandwich and a cup of much needed coffee. The doctor was barely there for 10 minutes to tell me I needed another blood test and antibiotics for the infection and a op to remove the offending gall bladder. So I waited and waited for the blood results finally it was when I told them I was discharging myself that they got a doctor to chase the results, do a discharge letter and give me the correct meds!! The nurses I cannot fault but the consultants and doctors are unbelievable!! To refuse to spare 10 minutes explaining something that had made me worry so much that I arrived in an ambulance is terrible and really appalling.
