"1970s treatment at the Opthamology department"

Having had an eye test done at Boots they wrote to my doctor as they had discovered a problem, I was referred to Tameside. After 3 months wait I attended the clinic, arriving 5 minutes early. I was asked to go into a treatment room after approx 10 wait. The room was a cross between a store room and a treatment room, the attending nurse sat me in a chair in the middle of the room and was asked to cover an eye and read the eye test chart, she did not take notes. I was then asked to wait in the waiting room. One of the doctors had not yet arrived, so delays had started. I asked an attendant nurse what the purpose of this very basic eye test was about, I was told it's needed by the doctor. I can't understand why having experienced Boots high tech eye test with various pieces of equipment, I am then subjected to a school nurse 1970 style test. What a joke.

Following that I was seen some 20 mins later by the doctor, when I sat in the surgery he did not introduce himself, I actually don't know if he was the doctor or someone else, it was only afterwards I wondered if I have been duped. He gave my eyes a very basic check I was in his surgery less than 10 mins this included the time he left then came back checked his wallet for things wrote a note in a pad placed in his jacket. He told me he would arrange for some photos of my eyes done and would be writing and probably see me in a year. Surely the trust needs to investigate what is going on at this department. I asked him if he had my notes from the opticians he did not, I asked him what communication he has had with my doctor, just the referral, he did not ask me how I was feeling, he did not ask me anything whatsoever.

As for the pictures, at most opticians they take photos of the eyes and check pressures, and so on. I told him I had a pain behind my left eye and he took another quick look and said the pressure is ok. I told of the feeling of pressure behind my eye he then gave a very basic explanation for the feeling and said I need to get some eye drops I asked him what type. Type for dry eyes

Another issue was in my letter it asks me to bring in any prescriptions, a urine sample, and all glasses I use. Not one of these have been asked for when I got to the clinic. What is the reason for this?
