"Blood test"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / General medicine

The waiting times at this hospital to have a blood test is a joke! Having to wait in a waiting room for a couple of hours to get a blood test when you have had to fast the night before is horrendous. I feel sick from hunger, it gives me migraine, its way to crowded, at times there is no where to sit and it gets very hot as there are so many people in the waiting room. I now use a different hospital anytime I have a blood test.

Response from Russells Hall Hospital

Thank you, Stacey, for posting your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with the service you received at our blood test clinic.

We operate a walk-in blood test service at Russells Hall Hospital, which is extremely popular with our patients. However, this does mean the clinics can get extremely busy and patients do sometimes wait longer than we would like. We do our very best to plan staff and resources according to expected patient numbers; however, due to the nature of a walk-in service, it is difficult to accurately anticipate how many patients will need to be seen.

If you need to have a blood test in the future, you may wish to consider using our booked appointment service. If you do not wish to sit and wait, you can book a blood test at any of 13 GP practices across the borough. You do not have to be registered at the practice to use this service. Fasting patients can also book appointments at Corbett Outpatient Centre. You can view a full list of these surgeries and instructions for booking on our website: http://dudleygroup.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/blood-tests/

We appreciate that long waits can be uncomfortable and apologise for any inconvenience. We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our on-going commitment to improving patient experience.
