This was my second overnight stay at Airedale following a surgical procedure, in the past I have found the staff to be lovely, really nice helpful people, this is still the case bar one poor nurse who must have been on shift for a very long time as they seemed stressed out. The issue I had and I do hope NHS take note is that I had an 8 hour wait from the time my doctor said I could go home, to being allowed to actually go, despite asking I was simply told it was out of the nurses hands, what takes 8 hours, I was the only person on that ward and a nurse obviously had to be around for someone that was fine and ready to go, seemed a waste of resource, discharge me and get me out of there so staff can carryon caring for patients that need their time, the staff here really try there best and do a great job, it almost seemed like the system works against them it seemed to be the organization of staff, communication wasn't great and staffing levels could have been better, for example during the night I was on my own in the ward and had 3 nurses, during the day we had 2, with more people on the ward.
Please do something about the way patient's are discharged.
To finish all the staff at Airedale are great, the porters, carers, nurses and doctors do a great job, I'm just not sure certain rules that they follow help them or the patient.
"Usual great care"
