Went to fracture clinic due to broken ankle. The waiting times at the clinic are ridiculously long. When I went to apply the cast, it took nearly 6 hrs- though useful time I.e. To apply the cast was 20mins max, and X-ray 5 mins - rest was waiting around. Returned at 6 weeks to remove the cast - 4 and a half hours at fracture clinic in which less than 10 mins to saw off the cast, 5 mins to X-ray and 5 mins with registrar ( letter said appointment was with consultant but was seen by his registrar) rest of time was waiting around. I had gone there at 9.00 am and after seeing the registrar at half twelve, I was told that the fracture had heal and that I should start walking!! I was referred for physio but they go home at half twelve so I was expected to go home and wait for an appointment which could talk anywhere up to 2 weeks! What I don't understand is why they couldn't prioritise pple who would potentially need Physio so that they can get tips on how to walk after so weeks in a cast instead of being sent home without any information.
