"Sadly not outstanding"

My mother in law fell at home as was on the floor for twenty hours before she was found. Kindly ambulance staff took her to hospital,sadly in A and E it all went down hill. Bloods were taken one set of observations and then left. My husband was with her,kept mentioning she had not passed urine and not drunk at all,nurse said not their problem and it was up to the doctor so he had to give her a drink to ensure she had some fluids. Accidentally rang the call bell when he handed it to his mother and was told by an admin person (he thinks) when he went to say sorry that it "was typical of relatives to do this" they replied to him. He had to leave at 10 pm, he has cancer, so after a day at work and then being with her for four hours, was feeling weary. The nurse was horrified by his action stating he should stay he case she went home, which was obviously not going to be the case. By this time she had still not seen a doctor,still had not passed urine (now over 24 hours) and just had the fluids he had given her. I am myself a band 7 nurse consultant, l will always support and stick up for the NHS, but in this case l cannot. My mother in law is still in hospital.
