"A and E visit : 29 August 2016"

About: St Richard's Hospital / Accident and emergency

Arrived at 19.15 with problem relating to loss of balance. Seen within a matter of minutes by the most helpful, efficient and smartly dressed nurse. Told we would have to wait 90 minutes to see the doctor. In fact it was two hours. Difficult, I know, but it would have been appreciated to have some sort of update on waiting time as the wait .. seemed interminable ... progressed. Seen at 10pm by a most helpful and attentive young doctor who took care, time and trouble to establish the likely cause. I could not fault their interest and courtesy and although, following the diagnosis, I declined the invitation for an immediate injection, they prescribed other medication for me to collect from my GP the following day .. today. I called on my GP who had already ..10.15am .. received all the previous late night's documentation .. I did not leave the A and E doctor until 11pm. That is efficient .. and far beyond anything I had expected. The GP confirmed the diagnosis but as my condition had improved considerably by the time I saw them, they recommended a slightly milder dose of the prescribed medication. Summary .. it is not the best time .. Bank Holiday .. to go to an A and E but I was treated with care, courtesy and efficiency throughout by the young doctor .. full marks to them.. and for the subsequent very efficient transfer of documentation by your administration department to my GP. Thank you. Jeremy Long - 30 August.

Thank you for your positive feedback about your experience in our A&E department. We were sorry to read that you were taken ill but it was good to know that you were treated so well and the communication between us and the community services was efficient.

Our A&E department can be extraordinarily busy and it is a real morale boost when we receive feedback like this so thank you once again and we will be delighted to share your comments with the staff in the department.

We do hope you are making a satisfactory recovery.
