I went to a&e Cramlington at 5: 30 am 14 weeks pregnant with a significant bleed. I was extremely worried that I was going to lose my baby.
I appreciate that emergency departments are always busier at weekends and short staffed but it thought it was ridiculous that I was left worried sick, with no one to let me know what was going on till after 12 when they sent me upstairs for a scan. I then discovered from the doctor upstairs that my paperwork said I had been referred at 0630 for a scan and I should have been seen much sooner.
Now I am not sure, but I feel as if my file had been forgotten about for a long time as we were there during a shift change. And had there even been someone there to reassure me I may have felt slightly better but was left in a waiting room crying my eyes out for 6 hours thinking the worst.
Luckily my baby is doing ok and I can't thank the staff upstairs enough, they were very thorough and kind. But the time I spent in a&e I feel could have been handled better.
