"Horrendous service"

About: Swanage Community Hospital

Drove to Swanage hospital as my partner has a leg infection from a bite.

Swollen, red and hot with the redness spreading up her leg.

After consulting a family member who is a gap she advised us to go straight to the hospital to get it checked.

We got there at 7.51pm.

The surgery closes at 8pm. When my partner got to the door, a nurse was shutting and locking the door. My partner asked to be let in so that someone could see her.

The nurse told her it wasn't serious and that she should come back in the morning - without examining her leg at all.

When my partner pleaded with her, the nurse asked if she was taking antihistamines and when she said she was, the nurse told her to take another type of antihistamine 6 times a day and come back in the morning.

The nurse then shut and locked the door in my partners face. This seems like an outrageous dereliction of duty given that we had rushed to get there before closing time and had got there with plenty of time to spare.

We are both furious about this.

This is what we pay our taxes for and I can now see why people pay for private health care.

Now we are left with a night of uncertainty and a possible trip to Poole tonight if the infection looks to be getting worse.

Appalling service and I'll be making a formal complaint as soon as possible.
