"GAU - urgent treatment of incomplete miscarriage"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Gynaecology

I visited the GAU twice over a week after bleeding during Week 9 of pregnancy. The first was for a scan which unfortunately had to prepare us for an impending miscarriage, the second was a few days later when I began to haemorrhage quite heavily. All the staff I dealt with were supportive and kind. The doctor took quick and effective action to control the haemorrhage. I was fully informed of the situation throughout and included in all decisions. I thought the treatment I received in GAU was a wonderful example of the NHS at its best and I hope all the staff involved in my care are truly proud of the challenging work they do.

It was very kind of you to take the time to write to the hospital; I am pleased to hear that you had a positive experience and that you wish to express your grateful thanks to the Gynaecology Unit within the Maternity Department.

I will forward your kind words to the Matron to share with her staff.

I hope you are feeling better now and thank you again for taking the time to write in.
