"Trip to Accident and Emergency"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

After a bicycle accident I was having bad chest pains.

I went to A/E.

The receptionist was very helpful, polite and welcoming.

The nurses I saw were considerate, professional and sympathetic.

I was given time to explain my pains, I was examined thoroughly and I was given professional advice on how to look after my torn rib muscles.

Overall, the experience was not one that I expected.

I had originally refused to go to A/E because of the bad press the department had.

This has not been my experience.

One negative comment is that quite a lot of the equipment was not working; very frustrating for the staff needing it and wasting their time trying to find the correct equipment so that they can do their job professionally.

Well done to the staff - absolutely professional.
