I attended a pre operative assessment today at the Victoria Infirmary and had an excellent experience with the nurse who dealt with me (Vicky). I explained to her that I get very bad anxiety in hospitals and she spent time explaining everything to me and reassuring me. Since the clinic was running late I didn't have time to see the doctor I was supposed to see. I was concerned about an ECG I had had done earlier in the day and wasn't keen on having to wait until my next appointment with the doctor to find out the results. The nurse could sense my anxiety and said that she would get the doctor to look at the results and she would phone me to let me know. 20 minutes after I left the hospital she phoned to confirm all was OK with the results. I'm due to go in for an operation in two weeks and feel a little less anxious knowing that people like Vicky are working in the NHS.
