After seeing my consultant I was booked in for a tonsillectomy within 2 weeks. I was offered Xmas eve or the 29th Dec, not surprisingly I opted for after Xmas. The op was performed within the treatment centre at The Lister Hospital. When I arrived at 12:30 I was quickly taken through to get prepared for the op, I was seen very quickly by the Dr and anaesthetist and thankfully only had an hours wait before I was taken to theatre. I was extremely nervous but the staff in the treatment centre were so nice. I have never had an operation before and was petrified, I think the anaesthetist picked up on this and was so kind, before I knew it I woke in recovery, I was then moved to a bay. The nursing staff again were extremely efficient, unfortunately I had a post op bleed but the Dr was with me straight away and stopped the bleeding. I was then told I would need to stay over night because of the bleed. I was situated opposite the nurses station and could hear how difficult it was for them to find me a bed, The sister on the ward was extremely efficient and obviously knew her job inside out as managed to re jig a few things and got me a bed, I was finally moved to a ward just before 8pm. Luckily I had my own side room, again the nurses on the ward were so lovely and did everything they could to make me comfortable. Unfortunately a house keeper was rude to me and reduced me to tears but other than that, the care I received was spot on. Thank you.
