"A&E to ICU"

Thankfully Myself and my husband are not generally ill people and we have never had to pay a visit to the A&E department prior to this fateful day on June 22nd this year - My husband ran a half marathon in Hitchin and collapsed with heat exhaustion. He was rushed to the Lister Hospital Stevenage. My husband is thankfully young and fit so it was a complete shock to be faced with this situation - I was comforted by the staff sister in A&E (cannot speak highly enough) as my husband was being worked on by Cardiac Staff and doctors from the ICU. The doctors talked me through everything and informed me that my husband was going to be placed in an induced coma and would be taken to ICU for further treatment. My husband was in intensive care for 2 months as he contracted pneumonia and unfortunately was extremely poorly. The staff in ICU are just amazing and I cannot speak highly enough for what they did for myself and my family. They made this nightmare slightly more bearable and I cannot thank them enough for that. There were times that I thought I may loose my husband but the staff were always there to support me and talk me through what was going on. I know they are doing they're job but they really do go above and beyond and I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of my husband and I (who made a full recovery) :-)
