"A very nervous patient put to ease"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I went into the day surgery unit yesterday morning for a loop biopsy of my cervix which had to be carried out under general anaesthetic. I was absolutely terrified of being put to sleep as it was my first time. From the very start the staff were lovely:Staff on the unit let my partner sit in reception for a little while so I could pop up and see him as I wasn't going into surgery until about 10.30 which straight away made me feel better. Once I went into surgery the anaesthesia team just made me feel so at ease. The person who put the needle in my hand; thank you! I have had horrible experiences in the past and it ended with me actually saying "that wasn't that bad". I will definitely not be afraid the next time I have to be put to sleep, so thank you so much for that. Back on the ward and I was moved to a side room for privacy as I had to stay longer than expected and my partner was allowed to come and join me. Nothing was too much trouble for the nurses; they were a great support. Thank you very much for everything, especially the anaesthesia team.
