"Great treatment in A&E Dept"

About: South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

My sister rang ambulance mid morning a week ago for assistance after I became ill during the night. Paramedics arived fast to assess, helped me with wheel chair to the ambulance with lots of reassurence and constant communication about what was happenning. Received by A&E dept, given full assistance, they explained everything, made expert decisions, reassured my sister and myself & partner throughout the procss. I was quite nervous and felt overwhelmed by it all as I was confused, hot and slept a lot. Having received constant monitoring and moved to the observation unit I was treated superbly until I was allowed to leave the next evening. Thank you to every member of staff, hospital had excellent facilities with great friendly staff. Thank you so much for your help during the anxious time, I had a bad infection at the same time as my sarcoidosis & on steroids all a bit challenging.

Response from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

Dear LorMc

I was sorry to hear that you required the services of the A&E department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and I hope that you are now feeling much better.

It is pleasing to know that you were given full assistance from the staff, in providing you with reassurance and continuous explanations of what was going to happen along the pathway of your care at what must have been a very anxious and unsettling time for you.

It is lovely to hear of how our staff have worked well together to provide you with a high level of compassionate care and I will share your compliment with the A&E team for recognition and further encouragement.
