About: Leighton Hospital

Tonight my 9 month prem baby banged her head and was sick attended A&E and and was seen within 1 hour by the assessment nurse who told us she would need to goto Minors.

Another 1 hour 30 mins goes by and ask reception where my daughter is is que to be told " minors is now shutting and she will need to join majors she's 12 in the que now so will be another couple of hours. I've now left and will call ambulance to house if needed probably be quicker than the A&E department you might want to rethink the waiting times that you display not even close.

May we first apologise that your experience at Leighton A&E department was anything other than a positive one.

Unfortunately long waits within the department can arise despite the best efforts of all staff concerned. Communication is essential during these times of extremis and we once again apologise that in this instance we fell short of expectation.

Moving forward our waiting times will be displayed on screens throughout the waiting area. Please contact our Customer Care team on 01270 612410 if you would like a more detailed response to your concerns raised or if you would like to discuss with us directly.

Many thanks

Betty lodge
