Wye valley GP referred me to Wycombe for a hernia operation in December last year. The delay got to 18 weeks so I contacted the surgery manager who phoned somebody and cameback to me and said I'd be hearing something. No problem with Surgery.
A letter arrived giving me an appointmenent with consultant in April who said he'd place me on his list and I would be fixed up within 6/7 weeks by either him or one of his team. I was told I would have to have a Heart Monitor fitted for 24 hours. All done, ok and I'd hear more soon which I did. We went out for the day and arrived home to find a letter had arrived with an appointment for 1.30pm that afternoon.
It gets worse. A new appointment arrived for 18th. Good. A few days later another letter arrived apologizing but now delayed until 27th. Even this is only for a review to possible operation. Words fail me. Usual story.
Words fail me. I've considered going private. Had a £200 consultation. Will cost minimum of £2000. Why should I have to when I paid for a stamp every week for a full working life?
