This relates to my experience of an overnight stay on ward 12. As a very nervous and anxious patient with an unplanned hospital stay I was given no reassurance at all. The staff on duty said themselves that they had too much to do. There was no dignity or respect. I could clearly hear personal conversations that the staff were having with other patients. The nights staff in particular I felt were dominant and intimidating. The lack of care and support led to me being unable to breast feed because my baby was given milk by bottle on the ward. I was not given the correct pain medication. When I asked for help with my baby a staff member said they would help but then went away and never came back. When I told a staff member that I couldn't reach my drinks they smiled and walked away. I had to get someone else to move the table closer to my bed. The catheter bag was not checked and was full to almost bursting which I believe could had put me at risk. My views about my care were ignored. The lack of care and support had a long term negative impact on me. I do not feel that I can trust this hospital again.
