"Dreadful"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

My visit was absolutely dreadful as always.

Unfortunately we have had the misfortune to need to seek emergency medical help with both myself and one of my children who has asthma. My daughter's treatment has been absolutely shocking to the point of she is now cared for at Harrogate as I cannot forgive them leaving a 3 year old child with what turned out to be pneumonia and an asthma attack laid heaving for every breath for 3 hours while condescendingly asking me what I would like them to do for us. My literally made me beg them to save her life before they helped without showing a shred of concern for my child. Last week I staggered into A&E with chest pains and as I was nearly passing out and had broken out in a sweat they went to fetch a wheelchair and came back to announce no wheelchairs I would have to walk. From thereon in I was treated with disdain, nurses looked at me like I had crawled out from under a stone, doctors didn't want to help though when pressed the junior doctor admitted they thought I had a heart condition atrial fibrillation. They treated me like I was wasting their time with indigestion - I know what indigestion is like and I knew this was different. I was then left curled up on a chair in a waiting area for at least 5 hours whereupon I had a further episode of chest pains. Nobody checked on me in these 5 hours nor was I even offered a glass of water. Eventually I went to find a nurse who may be able to help and they were clustered around a computer laughing ignoring me. "Excuse me" I said where they looked at me like something they had stepped in as they surfed social media on the works computer. Eventually we left, nothing resolved but I managed to see a GP the next morning who prescribed beta blockers for an irregular heat beat and I started to feel better instantly. So thank you for nothing yet again Leeds Infirmary, you are a waste of space!
