"Treated with compassion"

About: County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was admitted a week ago for a full knee replacement and patella.

I would not hesitate to recommend the hospital and it's staff to anyone if they had to go into the hospital. My privacy and dignity was respected, I was involved in my care/treatment during my stay and was treated with compassion.

In my ward of four ladies there was a very cheerful and friendly atmosphere. We were treated wonderfully by the staff who gave us great care and attention I am personally most grateful for the way I was looked after.

I am sorry to say that the only let down was the food. It was unpalatable. Nothing seemed to be freshly cooked and even though I requested it I never got any fresh fruit.

It is most regrettable to end on such a sour note, however this is a wonderful hospital.

Dear Young at heart

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your experience of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. We are very pleased that you were so happy with the level of care you received and that you feel you had a positive experience.

However, we regret that you did not feel the same level of satisfaction with regards to the food and will pass your comments on to our Catering team.

Kind regards

Rachel Harrop

Thank you. But quality control is a real issue and should be dealt with without delay. Good wholesome food is an absolute requirement to aid recovery. It looks suspiciously like when savings have to be made the kitchen suffers. It is really difficult to carp on after such a good experience in Stafford County.
