"How Carer Assessment Worker helped"

About: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust / Carer services

(as a carer),

As a parent carer of a son with four different issues I am in great need of support. Some of my support fell away last year and this winter I have been ill for most of the time and at my wits end.

Having a CAW, has greatly helped me feel supported, provide an external objective viewpoint, identify situations that I did not realise as well as giving me the access to other services that no-one else had told me was there.

Without this I think that I may have totally "lost it" this past winter as I am on anti-depressants and have been for years.

It seems that parent carers are just thought to be parents not carers as well.

I am so grateful that I have access to her
