I've had a nagging pain in my right ankle for several weeks. (An old injury which flares up occasionally...) As I was passing the Dewsbury Walk In centre, I decided to get it checked out in case I could (a) be managing it better or (b) be missing something more serious.
The centre was really not busy for a Wednesday morning, and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I was seen in about 10 minutes. I felt a bit like a timewaster because I so rarely engage with clinical services, but the nurse who treated me was great. She did a thorough examination, asked lots of questions and was really reassuring. Advised me that it was as I thought- soft tissue inflammation exacerbated by the warm weather. Advised to take ibuprofen to bring the inflammation down and thoroughly reassured that this twinge was no more serious than I had thought.
I want to praise the professionalism of the team, and say thanks for providing a walk in service that only took about 1/2 an hour from beginning to end.
