"MRI scan wait"

About: Kettering General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I have waited 5 weeks for my results. The PALS department at KGH told me to ask the GP to request that my results are prioritised. I booked an appointment to see my GP who said that her emails are not being taken seriously and none of her requests are being granted. I am distraught. I had to wait 10 weeks just to have an MRI scan and now the wait for my results is looking just as long. I feel hurt that the hospital said 2-3 weeks for my results.

We apologise for the delay. The hospital has recently installed new software to manage its Imaging Department workload as part of a regional programme. This process has been problematic with many system issues that have been and still are preventing the Imaging Department from working efficiently and to full capacity.

Please be assured the Trust is taking this situation very seriously and all available resource is being put in to resolving the issues. The Trust has been providing regular updates to all GP surgeries and to our commissioners in addition to responding to individual requests from patients and GP staff to expedite individual reports.

Any request to report an examination urgently is actioned as soon as possible however the team is trying to treat all patients fairly and report examinations in order of examination date.
