"My birth and aftercare at the LGI"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had my baby at the LGI delivery suite in March this year. I live in Dewsbury but travelled to the LGI as I was a high risk patient and heard so many good things about LGI. My care from start to finish was amazing. The MAC team were great when I went in initially and found I had a severe infection, sent me down to the delivery suite which was very comfortable and clean. It was midnight when I went to delivery and they kept all the lights off which made my experience more relaxing. Chloe and Lanette were my delivery midwives and never left my side, told me everything that was happening and constantly made me feel at ease.

My labour started to go wrong so I was given an epidural to prepapre for a forceps delivery or c-section. I eventually ended up having a forceps delivery and my baby arrived breathing thankfully and it was the most magical moment of my life. I was then taken to ward L36 post natal and they discovered that my baby also had a serious infection. He had to have IV antibiotics daily, a lumberpuncture and many other tests.

I had severe blood loss in labour and had to have 2 blood transfusions whilst on the ward, along with IV antibiotics for my infection. All in all we stayed on ward L36 for a week and the care was excellent, those ladies made a very difficult, tearful and stressful time much easier for me.

Thank you so much to everybody at LGI involved in my delivery, you were all outstanding. I would reccomend anyone to deliver at the LGI and I certainly would if I were to have another baby. Thank you!

Dear Jnat3

This is lovely feedback, I'm so glad to read that your experiences on the delivery suite and L36 were positive ones. I will pass your comments on to staff there who I'm sure will be delighted to read them.

Kindest regards
