"Car parking"

About: Hythe Hospital

I had an early appointment at Hythe Hospital. Like most hospitals, car parking is fairly limited, but I was surprised to see that the majority of very limited spaces at the front of the hospital were being used by staff. This isn't very caring for the patients, especially when the majority of patients to this hospital tend to be either elderly or have ambulatory difficulties. Having worked in the Healthcare industry for some 20 years, it is usual experience for staff to park at the further extremes of the car park and allow the patients that need to be closer, the benefit of the few spaces available.

Thank you for posting your feedback on NHS Choices. I have discussed your parking concerns with the manager of the Musculoskeletal service. He has asked me to extend his apologies to you and to let you know that staff are encouraged to park at the back of the hospital and should not use the spaces at the front that you have referred to. This message has been reinforced to staff working on the site and will be monitored on an ongoing basis, to ensure visitors can access the hospital easily. I hope you will find this acceptable and thank you again for taking the time to make us aware of this issue.

Kind regards, Julie White
