About: Churchill Hospital

My husband visits the pleural clinic regularly and I have to say the consultant is simply one of the best members of the NHS we have met. My husband has multiple conditions and we spend a lot of time attending various clinics at various hospitals so are in a good position to compare standards and service. His doctor is extremely warm and welcoming, talks in plain english not complicated medical terms and takes a great deal of care to make sure the patient and his family understand what is being said and what they intend to do next. This doctor could certainly teach a few other consultants in different departments how to treat patients and their families. To give you an example my husband had a CT scan some weeks before his outpatient appointment instead of making us wait ( and worry) to hear the results his doctor wrote to us just a few days after the scan to give us the results and said they would talk to us in more detail at the appointment which they did. Contrast this with another Department which made no attempt to give us the results of a scan and would have made us wait nearly 6 months until our next outpatient appointment to find out had I not written to them and virtually begged to be told. I can highly recommend the Pleural Clinic at the Churchill and suggest you do all you can to hold on to this doctor.
