"Treatment in there"

My daughter was in there for 16 weeks on a section due to her eating disorder.

She refused to have the feed they offered in a liquid form even though she had been eating normal food prior to admission . They then forced a tube in and four held her down to give her the feed . I told her to cooperate as this was so bad . She did do and then she was allowed to drink it herself. She was on a one to one so no dignity . When she progressed to food it was better but because she was on a section the staff really took delight in having the power to say no to most normal things .

My daughter was in tears most days they pushed her to the limits. They treat the patients like children not adults and again if your in voluntary. You can ignore them saying no leave and go out my daughter could not do this she basically was a prisoner and if she had walked they would have extended her section .

They don't like conflict and me and her dad ended up going down and stating we were not happy and shortly after the section was lifted. Going in volantary is ok but on a section it's your worse night mare we could not take her home as she was basically a prisoner. The nurses in there act like wardens and the dietician insists that what they say goes. All in all it was 16 weeks of hell for her and us only when we kicked up a fuss things altered. I feel so sorry for others who don't have any one to speak out for them and are on a section . This has left me my husband and my daughter feeling very angry at the treatment in there. She has an eating disorder but is by no means stupid but the way they talk to you in there you are made to feel like a child. You can not go against them if your on a section as they have the power to make your life hell.

Room searches take place and if your found to have food hidden or booze it's taken away but because your in volantary no action is taken. But because my daughter was found to have food was put back on a one to one which means some one is with you 24/7 in our room no privacy at all . Yet others had nothing happen to them so no I do not think this place is good the doctor she saw was very rude on the day of her admission said not hallo or welcome just said you will be in four months

Some care workers were very nice but not all.

Our experience is not a good one . As I stated as a volantary patient it's not to bad but to be on a section it's so so bad .
