"Very poorly treated"

About: Halton Surgical Centre

I went in as a cancellation for a total hip replacement. Upon arriving i was shown to my bed and left. I had to sit in a chair for 4 hours as the bed didnt have any pillows on - after being very sore and uncomfy i walked to reception and asked if they could put pillows on my bed so that i could at least lie down. Pillows were then provided and i lay on the bed after 4 hrs. Had my operation around an hour and half later - i was back on my bay for around 7pm after having epidural and general anesthetic. this was wednesday. The following day i had to ask the physio if i could get up and would they show me what i need to do. To which they did. Thursday night myself and 3 others on the bay were still waiting for our medication at 11.40pm - i had to ring for the nurse and explain that we need our medication and could we possibly have the lights out so that we can sleep - after another half hour we were allowed to go to sleep - 20 minutes later we were woken again by someone with a trolley i explained that we all need to sleep and they left.

The next day i had to ask again for Physio to help me and show me what to do when i returned home which they did for 10 mins.

It was now Friday and i had people from Physio mithering me constantly regarding things been in place at home to which i replied please speak to my husband as there is nothing i can do as i was on orimorph and other meds and was very sleepy - things needed to be in place so that they could send me home. I told them in no uncertain terms that i will not be returning home until i feel fit and well and confident that i can cope.

Nurses were vague unhelpful and i felt totally alone in there. the other people on my bay went home and i no 2 that werent ready and were not confident on there crutches.

Saturday i went home - I wouldnt usually give any one a bad review but after my experience at the this place i really feel it warrants it . No one was in charge there was no routine and to be honest they just wanted me out of the ward !!! would never return here and im still at home awaiting physio as i am still not confident getting about and knowing what im suppose to do regarding movements - sleeping positions etc etc . I do hope that someone gets in touch and advises me on what to do or i simply wont know. i spent 3 days there and came home on the morning of the 4th day - none the wiser on my condition of what to do and no confidence.
