"Ward E3"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

My Mother recently stayed in this ward following a fall originally caused by a medical complication. It was a busy ward, however,I found some trained staff to be condescending and have an attitude problem. On the occasions,I attempted to speak to a member of staff,it appeared they only wanted to tell you and not listen with any empathy or understanding.I also found my Mother was treated for the medical problem she was admitted with with little acknowledgement of her predisposing medical condition.Being a retired registered nurse specialist in care of the elderly after 30 years,I found the whole experience upsetting.Only when my Mother moved into the side annex did we seem to get any understanding of her problems.I understand trained staff do not answer nurse calls as we used to,however many times HCA were so busy they couldn't answer them quickly enough and some trained staff just seemed to be sat at the desk.Definitely needs an overall in care and understanding of dealing with relatives.Hot drinks only served at meal times and none in between at mid morning and afternoon.
