"I was admitted for Green Light ..."

About: Pontefract General Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted for Green Light PVP prostatectomy. The op had been cancelled 4 times previously but the bookings dept at Pinderfields explained clearly the reasons and they were all understandable.

I was admitted to the ward and even got my own room which was great. The staff were without exception attentive and caring, from the ward sister through to the cleaner. My partner was allowed to stay with me for the hours before the procedure which was very much appreciated. The surgeon was great and took time to explain the procedure to me and reassure me, and the anesthetist had a really caring and professional attitude. I went into surgery feeling confident. The Theatre staff were also pleasant and put me at ease. I cannot speak too highly of my treatment at Pontefract General Infirmary. Thank you

What could be improved

The building is past it's prime but as it's being closed at the end of the year I think that was understandable. The food left something to be desired but the choice was good and I like the inclusion of healthy options. Not sure how I would have felt about the food if I'd had a longer stay.

They probably could have stressed the importance of hand cleansing more.
