I booked in for a suction abortion with local anasthetic at marie stops in reading. On the day i was terrified and upset but the staff were very reassuring and calmed me. I had read so many stories of peoples abortions which actually made me worse and expected the worse. But it was nothing like i had imagined. I had two 400 ibuprofen and two 500 mg paracetamol as advised before. I had to get changed into a blue overall and these things that go on ur feet. The staff member got me in right away there was no waiting around and they were very supportive as i was very tearful before, during and after it was a hard decision but the best for my circumstances. The person that done it was reassuring and very nice which helped. The procedure lasted around 5 min felt a little pinch but that was it no pain at all i was shocked i expected pain and i asked are u going to do the suction now and they said its done..i was so relieved there was no pain or side effects from the local anasthetic. The pain came after and lasted two days but was manageable with ibuprofen and paracetamol and rest..was fine upon resting worse when walking. Its now been 6 days still light bleeding and u will get few clots as expected but no more pain and had no side effects from the anti biotics given. The hardest bit for me is the grief i feel but maybe that will go in time its not an easy thing to do.
