"End of life care"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital

(as a relative),

We recently lost an elderly relative who was being treated at The Royal Gwent. She died in C6 West, but was treated in several other wards.

In this horrible situation, I have to say that the care received for our relative was excellent. In addition, the care and attention from the doctors, nurses and auxiliaries was superb. We were never made to feel a nuisance, even when there were 5 or 6 people visiting at the same time. We were offered tea through the night by busy staff and wherever they could, information in a kind, considerate manner. We were never made to feel a nuisance and the relative was kept as comfortable as possible.

The way the doctors dealt with providing very bad news was sensitive, caring and diplomatic. I don't know how they could have been better.

On behalf of the family, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who cared for Diana and indeed her family. You made what was a horrible time, bearable. Your kindness was and is so very appreciated.
