"Unhelpful phlebotomists at Arrowe Park"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

(as the patient),

Maybe just a small irritation, but the jobsworth attitudes at the Arrowe Park site when you attend to have blood tests taken is very annoying. They insist upon an appointment being made, and then you are kept waiting when nobody is in front of you. In my experience, when you do get called in, staff talk over your head to each other, and virtually ignore the patient, who might have benefited from being put at their ease.

A little kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way.

I may just have caught them on a bad day, but it has now happened twice.

I’m very sorry that you have again experienced problems with the staff of the Phlebotomy Service. It is our policy to treat every patient with dignity and respect and I apologise that we have not met the high standards that our patients and ourselves expect of our staff.

I would also like to apologise that we were unable to see you at your designated appointment time, but due to the nature of the department and the patients we see it is sometimes difficult to keep up with a very tight schedule when patients faint, become poorly while in clinic or when we are dealing with children.

I have reiterated your comments to the phlebotomy team and I hope that on any future visits to the Phlebotomy Clinic you will see a marked improvement in the way you are treated.
