"Having been referred to A&E ..."

About: Chase Farm Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Having been referred to A&E by my GP at lunchtime, following blood tests, x rays examinations etc I was admitted to Cambridge Ward by late afternoon.(I was surprised how quickly a bed was found) I spend 6 comfortable interesting days in the Cambridge ward. I was impressed by the level of cleaning that took place during my 1st couple of days there. On the whole the staff were wonderful, however, a lot of different staff came & went. Food was very good, lots of choice, big portions.

What could be improved

There seems to be a lot of time where not much happens in hospital which can be frustrating. The mornings are always very busy then things quieten down for the rest of the day but i suppose doctors etc are busy during other things. Communication is sometimes lacking. Some of the nurses need to improve their people skills particually when dealing with old people who can't care for themselves. Saying that most of the nurses/staff were lovely, very polite caring hard working people. Who else works 12 hour + shifts?

Anything else?

I was very impressed overall with the hospital. You read & hear so many horror stories about the hospital but this was not the case. I would have no hesitation about having another stay in the hospital, Thank You to all the hard working staff.
