I arrived at out-patients 15 minutes before my appointment, I reported to main reception and then to the waiting area as directed, I handed in my letter of appointment as required, I was told to take a seat and I would be called.
Thirty minutes later (15 minutes after my appointment time) I was asked who I was and who I was here to see, I advised the nurse, I was then informed that I would only be waiting a few more minutes, then a couple arrived with a surgeon, the surgeon went off to see the consultant that I was waiting to see, at that time I overheard them saying that it was good that they could see the consultant without an appointment, two more three minuets latter the surgeon was back and escorted the couple to the consultant and I was left still sitting there.
I asked the nurse what was happening and did the previous couple have an appointment, she said maybe / did not know for shored.
It was now 30 minutes after my appointment time and I was becoming a bit concerned, I requested back my letter of appointment with the consultant and when I was told that I could not be found I decided that enough was enough and advised the nurse that I was going to leave, this I then did, I advised reception about what had happened, but no one was too concerned or had this kind of situation happened before?
Was the queue jumper private or NHS?
