"Outrageous Incorrect Information - Endoscopy..."

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

Have not long left UHCW for the second time today after initially taken my Mum in due to having cancer in the throat - Mum is terrified and does not like Hospitals, Doctors or Dentists due to the unknown - I had been told to come back in an hour after Mum had been admitted for a 15 minute procedure and was told to return in an hour so that I could see her. I returned 1.5 hours later to allow for some grace, to then be told that I was unable to see her and that she would not be ready until 2pm and to either sit in the waiting area or go home and wait to be called to return. I am too angry and frustrated with all of this going on at this stressful time not only for Mum due to her having cancer, but for me as her Son who looks after her, and all of this on the anniversary of the death of my Grandfather who was Mums dad. The Modern Matron was too busy in a meeting to come to discuss this - disgraceful place, Mum has had such troublesome care at times at this Hospital - I would rather not be referred to this Hospital, I would prefer care elsewhere.

If people wanting to consider this hospital as a place to have care and want to read reviews - think twice please and consider being treated elsewhere!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at University Hospital, Coventry.

I am very sorry to hear about you and your mother's experience, especially at such a difficult time for your family.

In the appointment letter your mother should have received, it should have stated that it isn’t possible for relatives to sit with their loved ones while they wait for their procedures.

However, they are very welcome to sit in a separate waiting room or are able to go out and return in a few hours if they wish.

We’re very sorry if this wasn’t made clearer to you and your mother before her appointment.

To help us resolve this issue, we will be very happy to look into your specific concerns further. To do this, it is best to contact the Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 028 4203. If you would prefer to contact us by e-mail, our address is feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk
