"3 months wait for ENT and still nothing"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter is 3 years old and suffers from sleep apnea. She only gets 2 hours sleep a night from it. She chokes, snores, coughs, stops breathing and sits up to try and get air. I don't get any sleep because I sit and watch her sleep as I am scared she stops breathing. She is only 3 years old. She needs her sleep and she has the right to enjoy her life with out tonsil problems every week. She has had tonsillitis 5 times in 3 months and yet still no one does anything.

It's shocking that Dr's can leave a 3 year old to live like this.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Vampyleigh,

This must be stretching your nerves to the limit. Anyone who know me knows it is unwise to do anything that encourages sleep deprivation. It must be so difficult when it is your wee one too.

We would like to look into this to understand why you have waited. Could I please ask you to contact out Assistant General Manger for this service, Fraser McJannet, on 01563 827176. Fraser will need details such as your daughter's name, address and date of birth so he can check this out.

In the mean-time, it is always worth a try for a short notice appointment if this is an option for you. Please call 01563 827070 and let them know you are able to take a short-notice appointment. It is also very useful to check they have all the correct, up-to-date contact details for you such as a mobile phone number.

I do hope you get an appointment and the appropriate treatment for your daughter as soon as possible. Thank you for flagging this to us,

Kind regards,

Eunice

Update posted by Vampyleigh (a parent/guardian)

Thank you for your reply. I have had my name on the list for cancellations for a month now and still have not heard a thing. I have also sent a complaint to NHS. Me and my daughter are both exhausted from no sleep due to her sleep apnea. It's shocking that not one doctor has helped her. I ask myself when will they open their eyes and help? When she dies from choking or suffocating? Then will they wake up and realise they should of done something. I am exhausted watching her every night. Scared she is going stop breathing all together. It's shocking.
