"Dressings"

On the 28th July 2016 I had part of toe nail removed. It requires daily dressing for 4-6 weeks and to my shock I was told that the staff have been told not to issue the dressings necessary. I was slightly taken aback by this decision by the hospital boss, I have been lucky enough to have been in employment since leaving school in 1967 and I am still employed. Today I collected my dressings from the pharmacy at a cost of £29.21! Having paid NI all those years I am lost for words! Do I have anyway of redress in this cost?

Hello,

Thank you for your posting and please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. I have been in touch with colleagues at the NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit. There is help available for costs incurred when receiving healthcare. Please go to www.nhs.uk/nhsengland/Healthcosts/pages/Prescriptioncosts.aspx and you will find information there.

I hope that this helps. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Alternatively, you could contact your local Healthwatch organisation for assistance. Contact details can be found on our website www.berkshirehealthcare.nhs.uk

Kind Regards,
