"Hospital feedback"

About: Broomfield Hospital

I had heard terrible things about the maternity unit at Broomfield but always believe take as you find.

Well initially during my daughters pregnancy all was well, she was transferred to care of UCLH due to a slight raise measurement on the 20 week scan.

But after the CVS all was well and she was transferred back. The issue has only just occurred at 34 weeks she got a different midwife and was informed that she need to have a scan and see a consultant as an emergency.

The midwife rang the unit and was informed that they would call my daughter back to confirm the time.

Unfortunately no call was received so my daughter telephoned the next morning to be informed they had no record of the call.

Eventually she was scanned the following Wednesday so 6 days to organise for an emergency!

She has the scan and saw the consultant straight after and they stated te ywanted to see her again at 38 weeks to make a final decision about carrying out a C section.

However yesterday and today after many calls and being on the phone for 45 minutes she has been informed the request has been rejected as the consultant wrote something wrong!

So let me clarify rather than confirm with the consultant they just cancelled the requirement for the scan! So the midwife has to put in a new request to try and get an appointment next week for the scan and the consultant.

Clearly this is not acceptable and a complete waste of time, lets hope when she does go into labour this will be better organised.

Just to clarify this is nothing to do with lack of funds it is bureaucracy at its most ridiclous.

A very frustrated nanny in waiting.
