"Exceptional staff at Bideford Minor Injuries Unit"

My wife and I are from Scotland, but were visiting Devon for our summer holidays. My wife fell and injured her ankle, which we got checked out at the Minor Injuries Unit. The staff called me in to the room to include me in discussing her injury and treatment and were very supportive of us over the next few hours when we were stuck in the hospital waiting room arranging travel with the RAC (as she was the only driver). The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help us figure out local public transportation, providing proof of treatment to our car insurance company, and in generally making us feel supported. Other comments about the hospital: The question above asks about 'same-sex accommodation' at the hospital- while we were not given accommodation, the wording of the form may be focused on the extent to which the hospital was inclusive of same-sex relationships. In this respect, they were absolutely inclusive and treated us as spouses. When not on holiday, my job includes delivering training to services on LGBT domestic abuse and I was pleased to learn from my wife that she was asked by the staff- after stating that her partner is a woman- whether she was in an abusive relationship. It is very positive to hear of routine inquiry of domestic abuse at Bideford, and I hope that the same question is also asked of all men and people who identify as non-binary.
