"A&E"

About: Tameside General Hospital

My husband had to visit A&E in the middle of the night via an ambulance trip in. Paramedics were simply brilliant in dealing with my husbands kidney stone pain and can`t fault them. We found the triage nurse to be very matter of fact. Keen to move us on and out to a waiting area where we had to sit for over an hour. It would have been nice to have had some idea of the wait we would entail. Nothing forthcoming until a nurse came and put us in a cubicle. I had to ask how long until we saw a doctor and was told two and a half hours. As we had already been there for over and hour and a half , we were told an hour . At least we knew, but the most awful thing is the piped radio music everywhere. You had to listen to it and when you are there a while it becomes monotonous! We don`t like this type of music so were finding it unbearable. Any chance of calming classical / or easy listening music instead of pop please? I am sure we can`t be the only ones. The doctor was very good but we did find the tattoos on his arms slightly unprofessional to see.

I think they should have been covered up. Was pleased with treatment given.

Thank you for taking the time to write about both your positive and negative experience.

I am sorry that aspects of your attendance gave case for concern but that you were pleased with the treatment given.

We have shared these comments with the department so this can be discussed & considered in the team meetings
